About STORYSCAPE Art Exhibit

STORYSCAPE is an art exhibition comprised of selections from a half-year of story sharing and story gathering as part of the The William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund’s 25th Anniversary year. Even before opening its doors 25 years ago, the mission and work of the Memorial Fund was being shaped by stories. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, the Memorial Fund created space in six regions around the state—Waterbury, New London, New Haven, Bridgeport, Hartford, Middletown—for people to share their reflections on their work in community.

At these events, we listened to remarkable truth-tellers share powerful stories concerning equity in education, racial and economic equity, liberation work, and community building. The STORYSCAPE art exhibit is a montage of the audio interviews, video interviews, poetry, written story, and portraits that were produced at these regional 25th Anniversary celebrations.

We hope that as each viewer and listener interacts with the STORYSCAPE art exhibit they are inspired to learn from the voices of the people directly affected by inequity as well as those working in these fields to work towards justice and transformational change.
